Welcome to Pitt’s iLab system, established on 10 August 2024. Pitt’s iLab is integrated into our single sign on system and our billing backends, tying faculty and staff grants to reserved time and services.
As of August 2025, we have 16 shared research facilities online!
Looking ahead, by the end of fall 2025 we will have 30+ shared research facilities in our system, and we will offer training classes for faculty, staff and students at Pitt.
This summer we will update the department of all Pitt employees using a standardized naming convention - please do not modify that field. We are using it to build templates enabling automated reporting.
Please review our new Shared Facilities webpage and the iLab training material available in the “Using Core Facilities” section.
(hide this warning on this page)Established in 2016 as a Health Sciences Core in the School of Medicine, the HSSC is located in the Rangos Research Building at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. HSSC offers Illumina Next Generation Sequencing Services to the University of Pittsburgh community and beyond. Our staff have experience in RNA and DNA extraction, low-input and degraded sample library generation for RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIPseq and associated technologies. Our core has Illumina Miseq, Nextseq500 and Nextseq2000 machines, with access to higher throughput capacity at the UPMC Genome Center. We encourage consultations in advance for custom or off-label projects.
