CFAR Core D: Clinical Sciences

Overview of Equipment and Services

The Rustbelt Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), a partnership between Case Western Reserve University and the University of Pittsburgh, provides administrative and shared research support to enhance and coordinate high quality HIV related research through its core facilities. CFAR Core D Clinical Sciences partners with the University of Pittsburgh Clinical Research Unit (CRU), which is an outpatient clinical trials research unit devoted to the study of experimental treatments and tests for HIV infection and its complications. CFAR Core D, through the University of Pittsburgh CRU, provides rapid access to existing clinical data and repository samples, on-demand acquisition of fresh biologic samples, including hard-to-acquire tissue samples, regulatory support, database development, and community outreach. Personalized services are provided to identify and obtain the most appropriate services for each project.
