ALERT

Welcome to Pitt’s iLab System!

Pitt’s iLab is integrated with our single sign-on and billing systems, linking faculty and staff grants to reserved time and services.

As of January 2026, we have 37 shared research facilities online with more expected to onboard throughout 2026.

Important: The department field for all Pitt employees has been standardized using a naming convention. Please do not modify this field, as it is essential for building templates that enable automated reporting.

Please review our Shared Facilities webpage and the iLab training material available in the “Using Core Facilities” section.

Cytometry Facility

Overview of Equipment and Services

The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) Cytometry Facility (CF) provides comprehensive flow cytometry services for both basic research and clinical studies, enabling rapid quantitative analysis of diverse cellular properties such as DNA content, antigen expression, receptor-ligand interactions, and gene expression. The facility offers continuous basic and advanced training and is accessible to trained users 24/7. Equipped with high-speed workstations and specialized analysis software, CF supports fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) in a BSL-2+ environment, including sorting of live human cells and retrovirally transfected cells. UPCI investigators benefit from complimentary consultations on experimental design and assay development. The facility also features cutting-edge multi-omic readout on the NanoString/Bruker nCounter platform.
